November is Family Engagement Month! Family Engagement Month is a time to celebrate and acknowledge the important role of families in the education and well-being of their children throughout the year. A time to reflect upon the shared responsibilities of families, educators and community stakeholders to work together on behalf of children. A community, believing that together we are better! As Karen Mapp, noted researcher, author and lecturer says, “When we partner, everyone wins.”

Early Learning Instructional Coach Tina DenBleyker partnered with Wilson Elementary Special Education Teacher Fred Loewe to enhance AVMR and UFLI teaching practices through personalized support, including collaborative planning, observation, and feedback. Together, they developed strategies aligned with student needs and instructional goals, fostering professional growth and improved student outcomes.

The STARS Reading Intervention Program and the Great Start Collaborative at the AMA ESD have partnered for the second year to support the STARS Program by providing funds for purchasing intervention materials and books for their PBIS system.
The funds were used to acquire a variety of high-quality, age-appropriate books and educational supplies, ensuring that each child has access to the tools necessary for success. This partnership with the Great Start Collaborative reflects a shared commitment to supporting young learners and building a strong foundation for their future.
The STARS Program is extremely grateful to the Great Start Collaborative for their continued support and investment in our community’s children and looks forward to future collaboration.

In a delightful blend of education and community engagement, Jean Kowalski, Family Engagement Coordinator for Region 3, recently spent a vibrant afternoon at Knaebe's Apple Farm alongside homeschool parents from the COP Great Start Collaborative. This gathering not only celebrated the beauty of autumn but also fostered connections among families dedicated to innovative learning.
Knaebe's Apple Farm provided a perfect backdrop for a day filled with laughter, learning, and connection. The farm, known for its amazing orchards and family-friendly activities, offered a unique opportunity for homeschool parents to gather, share experiences, and learn about the apple orchard and its products.
During the visit, attendees participated in apple picking, where children eagerly selected their favorite fruits, learning about the growing process and the importance of agriculture. The experience served as a practical lesson in science and nutrition, reinforcing the value of hands-on learning. Families also enjoyed a wagon ride and explored the farm's various attractions, creating cherished memories that extend beyond the classroom.
Events like this are vital for building relationships among families. They provide a space for parents to share resources, discuss challenges, and celebrate successes together. #beAMAzing
